About TextKit

TextKit is an SMS API for developers. With one REST API you can send and receive text messages, verify phone numbers with one-time codes, look up a number's carrier and line type, and rent phone numbers in the United States and Canada.

The name

The product was called SimpleSMS until October 2026, and Delivered before that, when it was renamed TextKit. The company, the service and the terms did not change. API keys issued under the old names keep working.

What the product covers

  • Messages. Outbound and inbound SMS, scheduled sends, broadcasts to a list, and automations triggered by events from your app (docs).
  • Verification. One-time codes in two API calls, billed only when a code is confirmed.
  • Numbers. Local numbers in the US and Canada, with A2P 10DLC registration filed for you (registry fees are billed separately).
  • Compliance. Opt-out keywords, a suppression list, a consent ledger and a registration preflight, enforced by the platform.
  • A sandbox. Free test keys that run every endpoint with simulated delivery. The free tier also includes 100 live texts a month, with no card.

TextKit does not offer voice, WhatsApp, outbound MMS or delivery outside the United States and Canada. Live sending requires business verification and carrier registration, which we file for you.
